Modern Warfare 2 and Mass Effect 2 Characters Infect Left 4 Dead

I love my homebuilt rig because the PC always wins when it comes to pure customization. Case in point: the clever folks that leveraged the character models from Mass Effect 2 and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and integrated them into the zombie apocalypse, Left 4 Dead 2. Unfortunately, no one has yet to integrate voice samples in game, but holding back the horde with Ghost or having Tali help you get back on your feet is kinda cool. Instead of installing the mod, why not peek at these videos of the gangs in action, courtesy of our friend Matt Pascual:

Activision Namedrops Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Several Times In Lawsuit

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2

Activision wants Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. After the massive success of Modern Warfare 2, it's not much of a surprise that Activision wanted Infinity Ward to develop Modern Warfare 3. The publisher mentioned Modern Warfare 3 by name several times in their countersuit against former Infinity Ward studio heads Vince Zampella and Jason West, filed today in Los Angeles.

The first time Activision mentioned Modern Warfare 3 in the suit was while listing the various practices Vampella and West allegedly engaged in, prompting Activision to launch the suit:

"[Zampella and West were] delaying pre-production of Modern Warfare 3 and attempting to use that delay as leverage in their [Zampella and West] negotiations with Activision"

Modern Warfare 3 comes up again several other times throughout the 23-page filing:

"Among other things, they delayed pre-production of Modern Warfare 3 and attempted to improperly leverage their rights under the MOU [memorandum of understanding] to obtain further advantage for themselves and concessions from Activision."

"As a direct and proximate result of this breach of the covenant of good faith and fair dealing, Activision has been forced to commit additional resources to Modern Warfare 3, institute litigation to seek a declaration of rights, and incur costs and attorneys' fees, and will incur additional expenses in connection with securing the benefits of the MOU."

It's unclear what Activision means by "commit additional resources to Modern Warfare 3," whether the publisher's referencing the legal involvement, replacing the studio heads with temporary leadership from within Activision (which happened after creating the Call of Duty business unit), pulling in developers from other teams (Treyarch is the other central Call of Duty developer) or something else entirely.

Modern Warfare 2 DLC Dated for PS3, PC

Modern Warfare 2

Infinity Ward's Robert Bowling has confirmed the PlayStation 3 and PC release dates for the "Stimulus Package" DLC for Modern Warfare 2. The Call of Duty community manager posted the details on his Twitter account, where he listed the PS3 version for a May 4 release in North America, the PC maps on the same day worldwide, and the remaining PS3 regions on May 5.

The "Stimulus Package" map pack has already raked in mountains of cash for Activision, selling over 2.5 million at $15 a pop in its first week of availability on the Xbox 360. It ought to be interesting to see how much that number inflates once the other two platforms have a crack at the DLC.

Modern Warfare 2 ‘Stimulus Package’ DLC coming to PS3 May 4, worldwide on May 5

If you're a regular reader, you probably already know why we use the word "exclusive" in quotes so often. But if you're not, you might not know that it's because of situations like this, where the Xbox 360 "exclusive" Modern Warfare 2 DLC (a five map pack titled "Stimulus Package") is suddenly announced as heading to PlayStation 3 and PC. In fairness, as detailed by Microsoft to Eurogamer back in January, we already knew this particular exclusivity deal had a built-in expiration date.

What we didn't know, however, was an official release date for the PS3 and PC versions. Infinity Ward community man Robert Bowling revealed the May 4 US release date for PSN via Twitter, also detailing a May 5 release date worldwide for PS3s and May 4 for PCs worldwide. Though he doesn't specify, we have to imagine that pricing will remain in line with the content's $15 tag on XBLM. We've followed up with Bowling for clarity's sake and will let you know the solid pricing details as soon as we hear back.

‘Call of Duty 7′ Details To Light Up The World In May

Call of Duty: World At War

"Call of Duty 7," Treyarch's next turn at the franchise that could be set in Vietnam for some levels and include the subtitle "Black Ops," should be a little less mysterious by the end of May. The latest edition of the UK's Official PlayStation Magazine reportedly came with a teaser page, and it claims that the June issue will know some answers.

"The new 'Call of Duty' blows up here next month!" the one-pager reads in a picture caught by Destructoid. That would begin the flow of useful information just prior to E3, meaning the chances of more details emerging at the show from Activision are quite good.

Any extended "Call of Duty" coverage in the near future will of course be scrutinized for hints about the brand's next couple of years, since word already broke of a Sledgehammer Games installment for 2011 and recent personnel departures at Infinity Ward, as well as a lawsuit, have placed a spotlight on that office's future with the "Modern Warfare" imprint.

"CoD7" is rumored to include stops in Cuba, South America and Iran, but very little has been stated on the record at this point, particularly from Treyarch's end.

What do you want to see happen in "Call of Duty 7"? How do you think it will stack up against "Modern Warfare 2"? Share your predictions in the comment section below.

Modern Warfare 2 advertising keeps it juvenile

We thought Activision had learned its lesson about manufactured controversy in the Modern Warfare 2 ad campaign after Infinity Ward's "Grenade Spam" video. Unfortunately, it would appear that the lesson learned was that manufactured controversy is awesome. So here's a YouTube-only ad (after the break; via Game Informer) featuring an older gentleman talking with disgust about what sounds like sexual behavior -- but what's actually Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer.

A shortened, milder version is currently appearing on broadcast television.

Microsoft Giving 7 Days of Xbox Live to First Day MW2 DLC Purchasers

The release of the downloadable 'Stimulus Package' add-on for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 crippled Xbox Live for hours, keeping Xbox 360 gamers offline and unable to play his or her new maps in Infinity Ward's popular shooting game.

To make up for this, Microsoft is giving 7 free days of Xbox Live Gold to any subscriber that purchased the 'Stimulus Package' on March 30. The credited time will be added by May 1, according to <a href="http://kotaku.com/5509743/day+one-modern-warfare-2-stimulus-package-buyers-get-seven...
